Tidewater Golf Club is widely regarded as the most visually stunning golf course on the entire Grand Strand β a Ken Tomlinson design that opened in 1990 as the only course in history to be simultaneously named Best New Course by both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine. The course sits on a high peninsula between Cherry Grove Inlet, the Intracoastal Waterway, saltwater marshes, and the Atlantic Ocean β nine holes feature views of these dramatic coastal landscapes. Ranked among the top public courses in South Carolina by Golfweek in 2024 and again in 2026, Tidewater blends coastal spectacle with genuine strategic challenge. The par-72 layout weaves through natural Lowcountry landscapes; inland holes are carved through dense forest, offering a welcome break from sea breezes and more birdie opportunities. The signature par-3 12th, nicknamed The Wishing Well, is one of the most photographed holes in Myrtle Beach golf β saltwater marsh and strategic bunkers guard most of the green, and the thousands of golf balls embedded in the marsh mud are the most honest testimony to its difficulty. The 13th, a 545-yard par-5 alongside the Intracoastal Waterway with Atlantic Ocean views, is equally iconic. Tidewater was ranked South Carolina’s Golf Course of the Year in 2024 by one major publication and consistently earns 4.5+ stars from Golf Digest’s Places to Play program.
